Christian Mother Starves Son To Death For Not Saying 'Amen'

Bizarre and horrible story just popped up on AP from Baltimore, about a 'Christian' woman from the US who was born a Hindu in Trinidad. She starved her one-year-old son to death at the behest of a religious cult leader.

Ria Ramkissoon, a member of the 1 Mind Ministries cult, pleaded guilty to child abuse resulting in the death of her son, Javon Thompson. She was known as Princess Marie in the cult, which you can read more about here.

The plea agreement contained this extraordinary provision: If Javon is resurrected, the plea will be withdrawn.

The cult leader told followers not to feed Javon when he did not say 'Amen' during a mealtime prayer.

Three people were convicted of second-degree murder.

Ramkissoon, who has been in jail since her 2008 arrest, was given a suspended sentence and five years of probation on Wednesday. She will be committed to a residential treatment facility. The Baltimore Sun has been covering the trial.
